The good Deals of Foxearth

I wonder if any readers have further details on my ancestors, the Deal family. My great great great grandfather was James Deal, born in Foxearth as was his son, Charles Deal.

JAMES DEAL was born 1778 in Foxearth, and died 1853 in Sudbury.

Children of JAMES DEAL are:

  1. CHARLES DEAL, b. Abt. 1813, Foxearth, Essex; d. 1900, Maldon, Essex. He married MARY ANN ELIMS 24 Dec 1843 in Parish Church, Melford, Suffolk, daughter of ROGER ELIMS and SARAH. She was born Abt. 1822 in Long Melford, Suffolk.
    1. GEORGE3 DEAL, b. Abt. 1852, Great Cornard, Suffolk. (My great grandfather - he was a cabinet maker and moved to north london, his son, my grandfather George Deal was a cabinet maker also)
    2. EMILY DEAL, b. Abt. 1844, Foxearth, Essex.
    3. ISAAC DEAL, b. Abt. 1846, Chilton, Suffolk.
    4. FREDERICK DEAL, b. Abt. 1849, Great Cornard, Suffolk.Occupation: 1881, Gardener
    5. HERBERT DEAL, b. Abt. 1855, Great Cornard, Suffolk.
  2. HENRY DEAL, b. Abt. 1815, Foxearth; Occupation: 1851, Horsekeeper d. 1887, Sudbury; m. (1) RHODA; b. 1853, Glemsford; m. (2) ANN; b. 1820, Foxearth.

Today (3rd October 2006) I visited Foxearth to get a feel of village and its surroundings, it was most enjoyable.

I also trace my roots back to the Deals of Foxearth. Not however to the James Deal of 1778 but the James Deal of 1816, son of Thomas Deal of 1791.

James Deal married Charlotte Oakley in Foxearth on 2 June 1841. Her father was James Oakley, bricklayer. I think I have found him in the 1841 census married to Susannah but that is all the info I have on Charlotte's parents..

Thomas Deal seems to have a wife called Eliza in 1841 and Kezia (1791 Glemsford) in 1851, (one could be mistranscribed) when he was a thatcher, but by 1861 he appears to be a farmer of 35 acres - perhaps unlikely!

Thomas 1791 and James 1778 could be brothers.

If there is anyone in Foxearth who can provide any further information for me?

yours in hope!

Perhaps Thomas and James are siblings or cousins of my Isaac Deal born Foxearth 1778? He married Kezia Bonney (b1783 Sudbury). Their six children were born in Bulmer (Jeffery 1810, Maria 1813, Eliza 1815, Isaac 1817, William 1820, & James 1823). In 1851 Ann Deal (b 1785 Belchamp walter) is living with them so possibly his sister.

Any information on Isaac and his relatives would be greatly appreciated.
